The conception of God as Trinity is made clear in the New Testament : Jesus spoke of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, as did his apostles. This revised the conception of God in the Jewish holy writings, the Old Testament of the Bible. In that testament, we can see a trinity conception of God as the One who is Omnipresent, Omniscient and Omnipotent : ever present, all knowing and all powerful. A somewhat clinical, theological, rational conception : accurate yet lacking personality and character.
I see a third tier of Trinity in the Biblical conception of God. It is there throughout the two Testaments of the Christian Bible. I believe that this third tier conception provides an accurate summary of the essential nature of the Christian 3 persons. This conception concerning the nature and essence of the character of God complements the other conceptions of God.
It provides a counterbalance to the erroneous and heretical conception of God as the ever indulgent, ever understanding and forgiving Being who will tolerate whatever we do. A heretical view of the cross of Christ, a view which fails to give God his due as King of kings and as the author of Morality.
The Christian God, the God of the 2 testament Bible, is actually :
MAJESTY
MORALITY
LOVE
These three attributes are blended as one: I believe they constitute what we term the Glory of God. They constitute a third tier so that me may accurately speak about ‘the’ or ‘a’ Triple Trinity.
We see all three in evidence throughout the Bible. We see them in evidence at the Cross of Christ. The love of God – and the quality and character of that love – is manifest in the sacrifice God makes to meet the Morality (or law) of God which God alone as King and author of all morals and truth has the right to make and is obliged to enforce.
We see this character and nature of God manifest right through the Old Testament. Let’s note the attitude and actions of this God towards the persistent disobedience of his chosen people during the period of the the kings from Saul through to Zedekiah.
God sends his servants the prophets to warn his people time and again to repent of their disobedience and to honour and obey the one and only true God. When they repent, there is blessing, but adversity and problems when they do not. God waited centuries before inflicting the ultimate punishment of exclusion which Moses records back in Deuteronomy.
This conception of God is needed today in a church subject to the heresy of selfish indulgence so characteristic of the Materialistic world in which we live.
The insight above came to me as I prepared a pamphlet for the evangelical church in France titled La pratique de la foi en Jésus Christ : notice d’utilisation de la doctrine biblique where I refer to the conception as La Triple Trinité.
This conception with this term is unprecedented, to my knowledge.
